Awards launched to honour casting directors

An awards ceremony specifically to honour the work of casting directors is being launched.

The CDG Awards is being created by the Casting Directors’ Guild and will recognise casting directors in theatre, as well as television, film and commercials.

Jordan & Rae Casting – Casting Assistant

Lucy Jordan and Shenae Rae (Jordan & Rae Casting) are looking for a Casting Assistant to support upcoming film projects for an initial 2 months.

Start date: July

Ideally applicants will have some previous casting experience, though this isn’t essential. We’re looking for someone highly organised with strong admin and communication skills and excellent attention to detail.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and in the office in East London. Applicants must have their own computer or laptop.

We’re looking for a personable team player – proactive, tech-savvy, eager to learn and passionate about Film and TV.

Gilbert and Covell Casting – Assistants

Gilbert and Covell casting (Ollie Gilbert & Katy Covell) would love to hear from any freelance casting assistants who would be interested in ad-hoc, remote work on a couple of TV/ Feature projects over the next few months.

We’re looking for someone friendly with great organisational and admin skills, who has their own laptop/ computer. Knowledge of Spotlight, Google Drive, editing software (eg.iMovie) and a basic understanding of social media would be a plus, but not essential.

These projects will involve a combination of traditional and street casting approaches, so we’re particularly interested to hear from those with a prior experience in research and open-call casting.

Winners Announced: The CDG Casting Awards 2023

Supported by Spotlight and Headline Sponsor EON Productions The Casting Directors’ Guild are delighted to announce the winners for the 2023 CDG Casting Awards, in partnership with Spotlight. Now in its fifth year, the CDG Casting awards seeks to reward and celebrate the incredible work achieved by casting teams across Film, Television, Theatre and Commercials. This year, a new category was added to champion the success of those casting children across all media types. There was also a special award recognising Ian Smith’s ‘Contribution to Casting’, sponsored by Conway Van Gelder Grant.

This year’s ceremony was held at Ham Yard Hotel and hosted, for a second time, by Jennifer Saunders. This year’s presenters included Bella Ramsey, Asim Chaudhry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Brydon, Harry Trevaldwyn, Laura Donnelly, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Toheeb Jimoh, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Gemma Chan.
