Richard has been a casting director since 1989, and worked as an actor for ten years prior. He was the first freelance casting director to specialise in all areas of theatre, and has since cast in every media. He keeps his extensive knowledge of artists – from graduates to grand dames – up to date by regularly monitoring their performances and career progression in theatre, television and film. He believes in quality rather than quantity, bringing in carefully selected artists who fit the brief. Richard never takes on more projects than he can handle personally and strives to assemble excellent casts, both onstage and off. Two editions of Richard’s book, Auditions: The Complete Guide, have been published by Routledge and he regularly leads workshops on audition technique and career development in drama and theatre schools worldwide.
